The nuclear gages will be calibrated in the laboratory prior to use in the field. Daily standard counts will be taken in the same location. If the gage is turned off, a new standard count will be taken. If during the day the nuclear counts is questionable, additional standard counts will be taken. Nuclear gages will not be used for determining moisture content unless they have been calibrated with oven-dried moistures. Site surface preparation will be conducted in accordance with appropriate test methods and gage manufactures.
